Recently, it has become increasingly clear to me that God speaks to us, even though we don’t
always hear, because what God says may not always come to us in the way we expect.
I believe that in our human weakness we often do like the man who looks in the mirror, but
when he leaves he has immediately forgotten what he looks like (James 1:23-24) – we forget
the tender, gentle whispers from the Holy Spirit, the clear thought that we currently recognize
as the voice of the Holy Spirit but which we let drown in all the needs and worries of everyday
life. And so we think that nothing is happening. Does God hear me? And we forget that God is
so powerful that we can cast all worries on Him – that’s what it says in God’s Word, and that’s
what we believe. God takes care of our worries so we can focus on loving and following Him.
The Word of God supports the entire universe; everything created is through Jesus, and is
created through a Word from God. When we know this, we understand that his promises
cannot fail, and it is in the relationship with Jesus that his promises – life and abundance,
become a reality for us who are his children.
The main message is this: Respond to God’s voice in your life.
Be encouraged today to grasp and act on what God has spoken to you.
If you haven’t yet heard the still voice of God’s Spirit – ask God to speak to you! Pray – and
listen! Perhaps God has spoken to you a long time ago, and you have received prophetic
words that you have kept within, but you haven’t yet seen it come true. Take hold of those
words, pray, fast, seek God – and act.
It is when we respond to God that our relationship with Jesus becomes dynamic, alive, and
fruitful. And what God does, often begins in the small. A mustard seed, the smallest of all
seeds, grows into a great tree.
In that quiet moment with Jesus—that’s where everything changes. There we hear the Father’s
thoughts for us, his promises and his ways, which are so much more than anything we can ask
or demand. There we are loved more than enough. There we have the peace that passes all
understanding. There, our spiritual eyes are opened to see God’s vision.
When God has spoken – let us grasp it, write it down, preserve it, pray over it, and put all our
faith in what he has said, because God can never fail His Word.
Let us trust Jesus completely.
